Cotton loop knit (French Terry) is a soft, comfortable, and slightly stretchy fabric that contains elastane.

On one side the fabric is smooth, while on the other it has a small looped texture that adds extra comfort and warmth.

This fabric is ideal for sportswear, casual wear, hats, sweaters, trousers, and children’s clothing.

Loop knit is breathable and provides natural air circulation, making it an excellent choice for both cooler and warmer days. A practical and durable fabric with enough stretch for comfortable everyday wear.

Sewing tips:

When sewing with cotton knit, it is recommended to use Jersey or Stretch needles —if the knit is very elastic, it is advisable to use Super Stretch needles, which are specially designed for stretchy fabrics. These needles have a rounded point that allows them to glide easily between knit fibers without damaging the fabric. Needle size is usually 70/10 or 80/12.
